Culture Wars’ music feels like it was made for this exact moment in time.
Culture Wars feels at once like a band that could’ve existed in the 90s as well as a group that was made for this exact moment in time.
Austin-based alternative rock band made up of Alex Dugan on vocals, Caleb Contreras and Josh Stirm on guitar, Dillon Randolph on bass, and David Grayson on drums.
Their 2021 hit “Leave Me Alone” off the Teche EP launched them into mainstream listening. The song was featured on the soundtrack for Bill and Ted Face the Music, bringing their songs to more ears.
Previously touring with LANY, Maroon 5, and Keane, the group is no stranger to life on the road. On stage they perform high energy sets with hits like “Typical Ways” and “Don’t Speak.”
The style is reminiscent of some of those gritty 90s jams, with an undeniable smoothness and a bit of pop. The indie rock group has a glimmer to their music that’s both authentic and a bit melancholy. Their indie alternative stylings feel like a love letter to the parts of ourselves that are difficult to manage.

Their music isn’t ostentatious or loud in an attempt to steal your attention away. Instead, the music simply is what it is. It seems like in both life and music, the band wants to do everything wholeheartedly. If the music plays, it’s going to tumble out with confidence. If feelings are to be shared, they’re going to be whole feelings.
“And I know I adore ya, but I'm no good for ya / There's no way you're changing my mind / And you're so / Stuck in your typical ways,” they sing in “Typical Ways.”
It seems as though a sadness and persistent hope weaves through their songs.
Culture Wars remains bold and experimental as they continue to expand their discography. They’re currently on tour for their latest album, Don’t Speak. Their trajectory has led the electric group to their first headline tour.
